Big News

Elizabeth has been officially dethroned as the sole Epperson grandbaby. . .Brooklynn Margo arrived this morning--Brittiny delivered her this morning at their apartment, with a little help from paramedics. Brandon called and left a message on our machine early this morning, so we haven't gotten the full story yet, but we'll keep you posted. :)

Welcome to the world, baby Brooklynn!

FYI--Baby Brooklyn (just one N) was born at home at 5:59am EST with six paramedics, daddy and grandma in supporting roles. Not the way it was planned, but, she's healthy and all went well, even if it was a bit, um,unusual. we are grateful for the quick responding EMS teams of New Haven--they showed up at 5:50 and Brooklyn arrived at nine minutes later. Britty sayd she looks a lot like Elizabeth....that's good, cause Bits is adorable. No doubt Holly will post her photo as soon as Brandon can get to his blogspot to post the 100's of photos we know he has already taken :)

My mom (momila) covered the salient points in her comment. . .Brandon insinuated that there are more details that are *ahem* not appropriate to be posted on a blog.

The big question is, why wasn't she able to go to the hospital? Were there complications or was it just quick?

It was just quick--I guess Brittiny assumed she wasn't in active labor because it didn't hurt that much, apparently. Sheesh. If only she were my sister I could hope that this is hereditary. ;)

If you want a more detailed description of the birth go to "The Boy & his Wife" link of Holly's site. I really don't think Brittiny wanted him to post it in it's entirety, but in the first flush of fatherhood he went a little overboard with the medical lingo. In Brit's defense, they HAD gone to the hospital at about midnight only to be sent home because the attending dr said she wasn't going to deliver for a long time. So they did go home and four hours later, Brooklyn shows up. I bet that dr felt like an idiot when he saw the patient(s) brought in by the paramedics.
After having seen the skinny little hall at the top of a long flight of stairs in which they had to do the delivery I am very impressed by the skill of the single female EMS who took charge.
Makes for a good story, anyhow.

Yo, wifey insisted that I tell the story on our Blog as it stands. She actually had me send out all that same info in an e-mail to all my work peeps and her school peeps. Brittiny calls the shots around here, and she's not shy about the gory goo that is childbirth... she is in med school, after all ;)
